Volunteer Opportunities The countdown to the second annual Walk for the Angels Walk-A-Thon has begun and it takes the time and talent of many people to make this event a success. There are many ways to help make this the best Walk-A-Thon ever. Some of the jobs are big, some small, some are done before the event, some during and some after, and some can be done at your convenience - but all are critical to a successful Walk-A-Thon. Awards: This committee will purchase and distribute all category awards won at the Walk-A-Thon. Drawing Organizer: This committee organizes the drawings held on Walk-A-Thon day and needs volunteers to help the contents of the baskets, their production and selling tickets on Walk-A-Thon Day. Face Painting: Anyone experienced in face painting we need your handy work. First Aid: This committee provides first-aid support for our walkers -- sometimes a bandage and some ice go a long way on Walk-A-Thon Day. Volunteers are needed to help set up and staff the station during Walk-A-Thon. Food: This committee helps setup the food court and distribute lunches to all participants of the Walk-A-Thon. Set up begins at 8:00 am the morning of the walk. Historian: This committee takes pictures of Walk-A-Thon in order to capture the day. Volunteers are needed to help in this effort. MC: Are you quick on your feet? Do you enjoy motivating people? The MC's keep things hopping on Walk-A-Thon Day. Kids love to hear their name announced and if you'd like to help, come on down! Music: We are looking for a DJ that loves to boogey. A fun job for the music enthusiast! Odd Jobs (as needed): Volunteers are needed to handle odd jobs that come up before during and after Walk-A-Thon. If you'd like to help, but would rather be on an as-needed basis, this is the job for you. Prize Solicitations: This committee needs volunteers to seek out donations from local companies. Route Setup: If you're good with getting up early in the morning then this is a fit for you. This committee needs volunteers to help set up and clean up the Walk-A-Thon Route. Anyone interested in this job will need to report to the park at 8:00 a.m. that morning. Recycling: Are you environmentally conscious? This committee needs volunteers to help organize all recycling efforts related to Walk-A-Thon and truly makes a difference. Registration: Registration is the first place people will go on Walk-A-Thon morning. This committee needs volunteers to help staff the registration tables Walk-A-Thon Day. Some set up is involved Walk-A-Thon morning. Set Up/Clean Up: Volunteers are needed to help set-up before and clean up after the event. Set-up begins on the Friday evening before Walk-A-Thon (about an hour) with most of the work being done early Walk-A-Thon morning. If you are an early riser who likes to get things done, this would be a good fit. Clean up occurs immediately after Walk-A-Thon and requires a couple of hours. Signs/Banners: If you are good with glue and paper, or you've got a banner program on your PC, we've got a job for you! Sound System: This committee needs volunteers to provide, set-up and take down the sound equipment needed to support the Walk-A-Thon. You will be working with the MC's a great fit for those who like to make things work! Spotters/Water Squirters: This committee needs volunteers to spray water on people at Walk-A-Thon. We'll show you the ropes of getting folks cooled off! T-Shirts: This committee needs volunteers to help sort, package and label T-shirts in preparation of Walk-A-Thon. Thank You's: This committee needs volunteers who will help coordinate and send out the Thank You's to all our sponsors. This is done after Walk-A-Thon. in late October. Water Station: This committee needs volunteers to staff the water station and keep all those walkers hydrated. Some set up involved early Walk-A-Thon morning. |
